Welcome to your Lazarus Family assignment page! Here you’ll find all the details that will help you feel right at home for the weekend, including your Family Pal (your dedicated chaperone), your cabin assignment, the family you’ll be sharing your space with, and your color group.
Each of these selections was thoughtfully arranged in hopes of creating a fun, supportive, and connected experience for your family!
Your Family Pal for Sun Escape 2026 is HANNAH BARCLAY
Hannah has EPP and currently resides in Texas.
“I was diagnosed with EPP when I was 3 years old. My mother also has EPP so I was able to get a diagnosis pretty quickly after displaying symptoms,” Hannah wrote. “I've had many reactions over the years that include swelling, popped blood vessels, and extreme pain that made me miss school.”
Hannah added “Other than my mother, I've never met anyone else with photosensitivity. I love that this weekend helps children with these conditions feel less alone. I would've loved to go to something like this as a child and get to do activities that I never thought I'd be able to do. With rare conditions, community is so important and I want to help my community.”

We encourage our families to reach out to their assigned volunteer via email prior to the start of camp to introduce themselves and get familiar prior to the start of Sun Escape. Hannah’s email is below. We have also shared with Hannah your family’s primary email address on file should she wish to also introduce herself or get in contact with you for anything Sun Escape related (ex: checking in with you about your expected arrival time)

At Sun Escape, each family is assigned a color group to help guide the flow of the weekend. While many activities are enjoyed together, your color determines the schedule your family will follow for certain program areas. Your cabin will match your assigned color, making it easy to stay connected with your group throughout the weekend.

You will be staying in our Phoenix Cabin with the Bovet Family
The Bovet Family is bringing an army to Sun Escape to rally around their SU daughter, Lucy. 7 families deep making their way from New York. Speaking about last year’s Sun Escape and its impact on Lucy, the family wrote “The weekend in 2025 helped Lucy to feel like she’s not alone in this big world with people who don’t understand what she’s going thru. Last year was overwhelming as our first year, but Lucy came home with more confidence, and this year her goal is to interact with more of the kids in the Sun disorder community. As a mother, I was able to learn from the other parents about some things that have worked for them. It was such an encouraging experience for us.”
As a reminder, each family will have their own private side of the cabin which includes a bedroom and bathroom. Both families will share a common area.
