Shadow Jumpers and the United Porphyrias Association are pleased to reimburse families 100% of their reasonable travel expenses related to attending Sun Escape Weekend 2026.

“Reasonable Travel Expenses” is defined by the ordinary and necessary transportation, lodging, meals, taxis and ride shares related to your round-trip experience.

Flying to Sun Escape

Victory Junction is located 28 miles from the Piedmont Triad International Airport (31 minutes). Families are strongly encouraged to fly into the GSO airport and use camp’s transportation options available. However, given the size of GSO, flight options based around Sun Escape’s arrival and departure times are limited.

Families are eligible to fly into Charlotte (96.5 miles) or Raleigh (70.7 miles) and rent a car. All rental cars reservations must be pre approved prior to the start of camp. Not all requests will be approved and miscellaneous expense such as fuel or renters insurance, are not eligible for reimbursement.

Starting in 2026, families are sole responsible to find, book, and pay out of pocket for their airfare costs that are within our camp guidelines. Sun Escape will not be able to assist in those accommodates

Reimbursement Procedure

Families will be reimbursed for their accumulated and approved travel expenses after camp has concluded.

Starting in 2026, Sun Escape will be unable to process reimbursements for airfare prior to the start of camp. Families are strongly encouraged to purchase flight insurance in case they are unable to attend Sun Escape after booking their airfare.

Families who are flying to camp will have to forward their email airline confirmation to Sun Escape by March 1st.

Families will be provided with an online form Monday after camp has concluded where they can upload all their related travel expenses.

Families will have two weeks from that date to submit their expenses. Reimbursement for those expenses will be done electronically by Sun Escape in one total payment 7-14 days after receiving a family’s completed submission.

Families will be asked to provide their username and information to Venmo, Zelle, PayPal or Cash App accounts for reimbursement.

Sun Escape will not send physical check or money orders and families are encouraged to create an account via one of the applications listed above prior to the start camp if they don’t have one.

Airfare expenses must be submitted as a PDF (preferably of the email confirmation at the time of booking). Screenshots or broad confirmations will not be accepted, considered incomplete and families will be asked to resubmit.

Pre Camp Hotel Accomodations

Camp families will be required to arrive to Victory Junction promptly at 5:00pm Thursday of camp. For certain groups, it may be easier to fly or drive to the Greensboro North Carolina area the night before.

In the event you need to arrive early, a hotel room at the Greensboro-High Point Marriott Hotel will be booked and provided for you. Families are responsible for their own incidentals and putting a credit card on file at check in. As of 2026, camp families will not be eligible to submit pre camp hotel reservations for reimbursement and are encourage to join us at our assigned hotel for free.

Hotel Reservation deadline for families is March 20th.

A bus will be provided to families who fly and arrive to the Greensboro area before Thursday at 4:00pm. The bus will depart from its location (located about 5 minutes from the Greensboro Airport) at 4:30pm.There will only be one bus and the ride is one way. Families should be in the hotel lobby and ready by 4:00pm .

A bus will be provided to Sun Escape Families who are flying out of Greensboro Airport Sunday after camp has concluded. That bus will depart from Victory Junction at approximately noon. There will only be one bus and the ride is one way.

Families who arrive to the Greensboro area after the bus has left for camp are eligible to ride share to Sun Escape and submit for reimbursement. As of 2026, only ride share costs related to getting to and from the airport, Sun Escape, our assigned hotel upon arrival or a families home will be eligible for reimbursement.

Unexpected travel Issues

We understand that traveling in 2026 can be challenging. If you have unforeseen expenses that occur due to a delayed, cancelled or missed flight Sun Escape will consider those additional expenses for reimbursement after the conclusion of camp and after the conclusion of reimbursing our camp families and volunteers their due totals. Not all situations will be approved and reimbursed.

Sun Escape will not be able to reimburse airfare costs for members of your party who you bought an airline ticket for and ultimately did not end up attending camp. Only airfare booked within our guidelines and forwarded to Sun Escape by our March 1st deadline is guaranteed reimbursement.

Should you or your family change your itinerary for any reason after March 1st, up to the original airfare booking cost will be honored and any additional cost pertaining to a new itinerary will be reviewed and considered for reimbursement after the conclusion of camp and after the conclusion of reimbursing our camp families and volunteers their due totals. Not all situations will be approved and reimbursed.
